The Smart Grids Roadmap covers a range of topics that are essential for the design of intelligent energy networks.

The recently published Smart Grids Roadmap Baden-Württemberg 2.0 presents the guide rails for the development of smart energy grids in Baden-Wuerttemberg and beyond until 2030. It was presented on December 1st, 2022, at the 11th Smart Grids Congress in Fellbach (near Stuttgart) and is available for download in various versions.

The new roadmap covers a range of topics that are essential for the design of intelligent energy networks. These include overarching challenges that are relevant to all smart grid activities, as well as four main topics that discuss the key aspects of designing intelligent energy networks: 

 

  • Grid and Market Alliance
  • Consistent Sector Coupling
  • Research Promotion and Living Laboratories
  • Enabling Participation at all Levels

The roadmap process, leading to the final paper involved more than 140 participants and covered a timespan of 13 months. The Smart Grids Roadmap Baden-Württemberg 2.0 incorporates the proposals from the recommendation paper (german only) for the redesign of the roadmap developed in 2021. 

This short version summarises the main contents of the Smart Grids Roadmap Baden-Wuerttemberg 2.0. The focus is on a brief summary of all fields of action. To this end, the challenges and the requirements for political decision-makers that can be derived from them are presented in brief.
